As Mayor, I will bring every voice to the table. Every councillor brings skills, experience and insight that are valuable to improve our town. Fernie residents deserve a council that is working cohesively, with a Mayor who is actively building consensus, while working tirelessly on the residents behalf. I believe I am the person who can lead this council to success for the next four years.

Fernie has been my home since 2011, where I live with my wife, Pru, and our daughter, Anya. I came here to work in the mining industry, a sector that has provided great careers, prosperity and identity to the Elk Valley. We stayed because of the community, the mountains, and the kind of life you can build here.
Having grown up with limited means in India, I know what it means to stretch every dollar and plan for the long term. That mindset never leaves you — and it's exactly the discipline I bring to how I think about public money. I have a deep respect for the blue-collar work ethic of this town and find a strong sense of kinship in the industrious ethos of the Elk Valley.
For the past four years, I've served on City Council while holding a demanding full-time leadership role at Elk Valley Resources — one of the region's largest employers. I know what it means to show up, do the work, and be accountable for results.

The Plan

Big problems get solved by focus — not by more studies and reports. A short list of what matters most, and the discipline to finish it.
Prioritize
A ranked agenda, hard calls on what comes first, and a renewed relationship with the province to move things forward.
Deliver the infrastructure
Adhere to the wastewater timeline. Fund streets and facilities honestly. Move from plans to progress.
Make Fernie livable and affordable
Core services on time. Work with developers to unlock housing. Budget rigour for every tax dollar.
Bolster partnerships, advance recreation
FTA as official City partner. Councillors in liaison roles on inauguration night. Support the service organizations that make Fernie great.
Open for business
Faster permits, less red tape, quality investment. A City Hall that partners with business — not obstructs it.
Infrastructure
Let's protect the
Elk River.
In December 2025, heavy rainfall overwhelmed our wastewater system, and the city had to discharge stormwater into the Elk River — the river at the heart of our community.
This is a known infrastructure challenge. The plans to address it already exist. What's needed now is smart government-to-government engagement between the mayor and the province — and the follow-through to carry known solutions to completion.
